Default Drive Belt Change

What's the easiest way to pull the clutch to change the drive belt. I have the primary cover and chain off. Just thought I'd check with the pros. Thanks in advance. Mike

I don't know of an easy way. You basically pull the outer primary, clutch & compensator, starter, inner primary, rear wheel and swing arm. I can't see any quicker way around that.

How many miles are on the belt? I am about to change mine at 105,000 because I already have everything apart because of a broken main shaft.

My belt still looks decent and I wouldn't be afraid to run it for many more miles. Unless the belt has some issues, I don't see changing it.

Belt has 41,000 miles but has the pac-man syndrome.

Then it is definitely time to change it.

That's when the ribs separate from the belt and look like little Pac-Men.

If it ain't broke don't fix it. IOW unless it shows wear on the sides or you picked up some sort of debris why would you change it?

Dumb question but why pull the swingarm when you could pull one or both shocks? Unless I am missing something obvious, with the shock(s) removed, what would be preventing the belt from being pulled back over the swingarm?

Pulling the shocks is no help. You would still need to get the belt inside the frame tube that runs under the primary. Only way to do that is remove the swing arm.

Ah, OK, don't have a picture and was going off memory about other rides. Guess that's why they make the belts so bulletproof!
