Default Dumb question of the day

I own a sportster 1200 and the wife recently gave the go-ahead for a Road King. I test drove one yesterday and didnt like the heel/toe shifter! Number one prob is I have a size 13 shoe and couldnt fit my toe under the toe peg.

Do you guys who ride floorboards get use to the heel shift? Maybe even prefer it? I found it akward??!!

I love the heel shifter, but many guys take the heel shifter off and offset the toe shifter on the splines to get under it. Use a spacer on the shaft where the heel bar would be to get the proper alignment.

I also have a size 13 shoe. I changed out the stock heel lever with a longer one. It hangs off the back edge of the floorboard. I was able to have it close the floorboard. I have plenty of room and don't have to really lift my foot much to shift.

The shifter is on splines so it can be adjusted up/down. I have also removed the peg on the heel shifter. It gives me more foot room, and I never liked the heel shift anyway.

I hated it at first but I adjusted mine to make it closer to the board and also installed flat shift pegs and now love it.

Most folks just take the heal shift off if they are in the way. They make a little cover to cover that spine so you don't have to space the front one over to hide it. The front one can be adjusted up by either rotating it on the spines or adjusting the connecting rod.

Grew up on dirt bikes and could never get used to the heel shifter and also have size 13's. I deleted it on my 08 Street Glide.

I've loved my heel/toe shifter from day one. Don't know why people take them off.

The shift pegs are adjustable.
I have always removed the heel shifters.
