Dumb question of the day
#41
If you end up having your bike for years as I have had mine there may well come a day when you wish you still had that heel shifter. Case in point: Last fall on my way home from Florida and my toe shifter stripped out but I was able to limp it to the dealer I was on my way to anyway and they replaced both spline and shifter. If I were you with big feet I would get either an extended rear shifter which for some stupid reason HD does not offer but Kuryakyn does or get the HD folding rear shift peg. But as said many people just take them off so to each their own. Personally I find it easier say when you are coming to a stop light and you have already downshifted then the light goes green to kick the heel shifter than raise the toe.

Have one on my 102 Yami, but its more like a flattened spoon. It was hard getting used to the HD set up when I got my EG Ultra Classic. I adjusted the front peg a little, raising it just a bit and lowered the heel shifter. That helped a lot. I got flat pegs and it helped even more. If you adjust them, make sure you put some lok-tight on them, I lost two pegs and my shifter loosened up too. keep tabs on them for awhile after you, or if you change them.

Listen carefully!Take off the rear shifter, take off the front shifter.Put the rear shifter on the spline with the toe kick pointing in towards the motorat the same angle as the front will be.Put the front shifter back on the spline at the height you want and tighten both.
With this method you have saved the cost of the spacer and have a spare shift lever in case the other one breaks which they do.
hope this helps,
