Default Got a question for Road King owners.

Does the fuel gauge on the tank even work and if it does work, do you even use it ?

When I test drove a RK, I could not even read it, it was at an weird angle and the window on the gauge is tiny . If I were bent over the tank, I may then be able to determine how much gas is left.

Also, do you guys use the warning light to determine when it's time to fill up or do you set the odometer to see how many miles are driven then fill up based off that.

My current bike has no gauge or warning light and it is getting to be pretty tiring.

The gauge on my 2008 works great, and I do use it. I try not to let any of my vehicles get below 1/4 tank as it can be hard on your fuel pump. The only trouble I have is that occassionally, when the sun is just right, the chrome makes it hard to read at a glance.

I do pay attention to it on my 2011 RKC. But I mostly go off of how many miles it says I have left in the tank instead of the guage. I don't have any problems seeing it and it does seem to be very accurate.

+1. And like another rider said, I try to keep at least 1/4 tankful.

I pretty much never look at my gas gauge. I use one of the trip odometers to tell me how many miles I've gone on a tank.

I have a 2010 Road King and I can see the gauge and it seems to work ok. But I rely on the odometer more. I agree that the gauge isnt big enough.

Mine has a mind of it's own. I go by mileage. Heck my empty light stopped working awhile ago. It would come one when I had about 10 miles to empty, ran out once because of it and a couple of times when it would come one I'd be basically on fumes.
