3 questions...
  • How much bigger is the 160 compared to the standard E3?
  • How much trimming on the belt guard is required?
  • Can you do the 160's on front too?

Compared to the MU90-16 rear, the 160 is .38" taller and .53" wider.

No because they don't make a 160 front tire and you should never mount a rear tire on the front.

On another note either I am a much more aggressive rider than I think I am or my odometer only racks up half the miles it should. I originally went with the EIII because of all the positive comments I read on here about handling and wear but I just got about 8K out of my last rear and that was down to steel. I won't let that happen again....
I hope you checked the manufacture date on those DK tires, just sayin.

After all the positive on the E3 had a rear put on today. Got a good price on tire, mounting and rear pads. Only drove about 30 miles so far and all was on a rain groved highway at 70. NO issues whatsoever. Handling was great. Just going to wait and see how mileage comes out before I am totaly happy.

Mine (from DK) was manufactured the 47th week of 2010 (roughly late November 2010) so it's only 6 months old...

I drive fairly sedate- mostly 1-up highway.
How do the E3's handle metal bridges, rain, etc. as compared to the D402?
My only complaint with the 402 is its tendency to squirm on tar snakes & steel grates, and only 9k for life.

Front will remain a D402 till it wears out- probably next year.

Thanks for ideas/info...
E3 hands down

I just threw that out there for a heads up. Have had to return new(old) tires to DK in the past.

I don't like the E3s..I found them to be extremely noisy and they cup prematurely. I use Avon Venoms ...superior performance and I get 15-16k on a rear tire.

My 2nd set of tires I went with E3 because of want I read on here about them. This spring I put on my 3nd rear tire again the E3. I have been getting 25k out of the rear E3s. The biggest improvement I noticed was with the tar snakes, when you ride in one the the front tire does that little wobble thing, makes your heart jump a little. And also in the rain it seams like a better riding tire.
