To avoid confusion:

Your amp is the JL Audio XD400/4 , not to be confused with the Kicker DX400.4

You accidentally mixed up the model number, which happens to be the model number for the Kicker amp. The Kicker amp is quite larger at : 2 1/4 X 8 5/16 X 10 1/4 ............

Just didn't want someone that was following the thread, to get confused, and buy the wrong amp !

Congrats on the stereo upgrade !!

I wonder if Kicker is going to jump in the game. I know they have speakers now.

kicker is good low dollar stuff.you want quality sound and stuff you gotta pay extra for it...
and Yes thanks i did mix the model number up.. it is the JL xd400/4 they make a bunch of small amps ..
As to why i mounted the speakers facing forward rather they facing inside the box.. wanted to hear them . they are a Hertz 6x9 3 way 200 watt speaker... they sound awesome too facing the way they do and i get plenty of Bass from entire system .. i actually have appointment to get it all tuned today so it will sound even better. there is way too many dials to adjust on amp and stereo for me lol...
as for what i used heres a list..
Deck is a = Pioneer DEH-7200HD
Amp JL Audio XD400/4
front speakers JL C5 cs650 6.5 mid and 1 1/2 tweater
rear speackers Hertz esx 6x9
dash adaptor Hawgwired http://hawg-wired.com/product_info.p...products_id=36 Got mine on Ebay from a seller for $200.00..
not a cheap system but you do get what you pay for i always thought

Yeah Kicker has gone down hill extremely, just like PPI did.. It used to be that American made audio gear by Kicker and PPI was some of the best you could get.. Now.. Ugghh..

I still have a couple of old school PPI ART series amps and Kicker ZR series amps.. I wish I still had my circa 1987 Rockford Power 1000.. Anyway, the JL amp is pretty nice and it's shocking that you got it to fit, I'd love to see some pics of that install

It will be interesting to hear how those tweeter image with being mounted so low. Having them installed at the top of the fairing would have raised the stage a ton.

Actually,...you got of for less money than a good J&M or Hawgwired system.

Plug-n-play will add a few $$ to the total.

However,....you usually do get what you pay for.

Guys are dropping a thousand bucks to upgrade their stereo systems at an alarming rate.

One thing everyone can agree on is: Stereo upgrades, no matter how small, are not cheap !!

I was thinking about doing the boston pro se 60 6.5 they are not looking to expensive anymore.

I have not messed with this stuff for a looooong time. I use a old kicker amp on a image dynamic sub in my truck. I dont re call what amp exactly but no complaints.
