I recently purchased a lowering kit for my 2011 SG from Road6Customs. It took me all of about 20 minutes start to finish to install them, no troubles whatsoever and no interference with the bags at all. Very satisfied after riding 400 miles, didn't change the ride at all, IMHO.

Louie
Resurrecting an old thread because I just got a 2011 SG and ordered Road6Customs lowering kit. My question is for Louie - did you drop yours SG 1" or 2"? I'm thinking 2" would do for me since I previously had an '06 (with 12" shocks instead of 13" shocks) which I lowered an inch and that was just perfect. Just looking for some feedback on if 2" is feasible on the SG (I'm 120 pounds and never carry passengers, so the shocks are not stressed at all, if that is a consideration)
I don't know why anybody that only spends $20 k on a bike would want to spend that much $50 dollars on changing the suspension! I mean hell man ya ought to be able to find something at the dollar store!!!!!!

So I bought a lowering kit off amazon. its similar to the one everyone poste. it didn't come with bolts. what bolts did you use? and with my glide is it okay to do 2 inches or is 1 inch feasible. I just want to be able to firmly plant my feet on the ground.

I lowered mine just the one inch. With just that amount of lowering and adjusting the air in the shocks you can still get a decent ride.
Yea I was going to only do 1 inch. Should I add air to the shocks? What should it be at. I'm new to harleys.
I wanted to lower my 2012 RG about an inch as well but after doing a lot of research I found that the best options are a different seat or different shocks. I ended up getting a seat off of a 2016 street glide custom, you can find them anywhere from $100-150 used. If you go that route just make sure the seat says "Low" on the bottom. If you like your existing seat you can also send it to Mean City Cycles for a modification that will lower you down to your desired height.
