RK + bolt-ons (tourpak/batwing/lowers) will be a better touring bike than the Street Glide, and probably cost ya less in the long run since you already own the RK.

Although I've ridden both Road King and Street Glide numerous times, I don't own one ....

However, I did change out the gauges on my FXD Super Glide to a tank-mounted FXDB Street Bob set up ....

I think the comment on the gauges is kind of weak, frankly ... yeah I have to look down a few degrees to see my speedometer face from where it was up on the risers originally ....

I don't fixate on my speedometer enough for that even to be a minor consideration .... I ride safely (which sometimes means accelerating above the posted speed limit to avoid a dangerous situation) ... and when it is safe to look down, I do ....

Just thought I'd pop up on a thread that doesn't concern me to call BS ... oh, I have something of a 'do-it-yourself' Road King / Street Glide with my detachable fairing, too ....

The RK is very versatile, in 07 I had an EGC and always second guessed myself about not getting an RK. I happen to love my RG, actually wanted it in 07, but don't like the silver engine, anyway, if I ever change from the RG, it will be to an RK.

Theres plenty of good opinions on this.

For now I'm gonna stay on the king.
