Mike , the "old kit" you seek is #91699-99A.
Description is "Flat lens turn signal converter"
The kit includes the two directional lenses and the brake-turn module.
Fits '96 and later softtail models , and 97 and later FLHT,FLHR and FLHR models with flat lense turn signals.
This is the kit that works with the single filament stock style lights.
All the lights go on when you brake , and the turn signals flash opposite the brake lights , hence the need for the module.
Easy install and you get a bigger difference from off to on than light on to brighter light on like the newer kit.
Around $45.00 is what the dealer got earlier this year for it where I live.

It definately gives you higher visibility when stopping, especially at night. [sm=goodidea.gif]

Interesting, that is why the dealer told me he had the "new" ones. I was not aware that they changed them. I will have to look into it. So I assume it is just sending less voltage to the bulb while the running lights are on and once you hit the break it sends all 12 volts.

Thanks everyone.

Finding the "old" one may be harder than you think. When I orderd the "old" version I received the '06 version as a substitute. If you or anyone else here is interested in the newer one #69461-06 I have one for sale cheap. PM me. I took this off my bike and installed a tourpak spoiler, saddlebag spoilers and a HOGLITE.

Those who say there's a problem with contrast may have had a bad kit. The system works by sending constant power to the turn signals (which MUST have a red lens) at a lower voltage...probably about 6 volts. When the brakes are applied, the turn signals receive the full 12 volts making them, at least mine, SUBSTANTIALLY brighter. In fact the difference in contrast is greater on the turn signals than on the center, original, two-filament running/brake light. If the turn signal is activated, the appropriate side flashes at a full 12 volts. Almost 2 years and 13,000 miles and no burned out bulbs.

The principal is similar, and in some cases more visible than some American cars, which by and large use RED turn signals. Most Japanese cars have red running lights and yellow turn signals. I personnally think the 3 red lights across the rear attract FAR MORE attention than a single, and with the "flash" mode set, it becomes hard to miss the 3 red lights flashing when you hit the brakes. I think that dollar for dollar, this is one of the best safety accessories available. I have the Kuryakyn kit if that makes a difference. It is plug and play on all late model H-D's.

Kurykyn has a rear brake module (same concept as the HD unit) which uses turn signals as brake and running lights (you'll need to get red lenses).
When the brake is applied the brake lights (now including the two turn signals) pulse three times before staying on.
People tell me that it really shows up well. I relocated the license plate to below the taillight using a Kurykyn kit and went with their halogen silver bullets for turn signals. Never a problem with over bright running lights and those behind can see what is going on.

I have tried both the old HD version and the newer one , the old version is good if your not looking for running lights.
The newer version was terrible IMHO, I removed it and replaced it with the "tail bones" kits from Biketronics which
I did find to be much better in stop/run contrast . Also there customer service was top, even recieved a call a few weeks later
asking if I still liked there product [sm=goodidea.gif]

Anybody know what kit..or part number I need to make my rear turn signals on a 2006 StreetGlide act as running lights and brake lights and turn signals? I want to put on the red bullet style lenses...and need the controller to do it. The one I looked at on Harley said it was only for flat stle lense touring bikes...

go to www.kuryakyn.com. Their customer service is excellent, always a knowledgeable human to talk to and no questions asked replacement of a burned out unit on my wifes Sportster. I believe the following parts are what you need.

Part #4859 // $69.99 Rear Run-Turn-Brake Controller with pulse brake capability.
Part #2109 // $29.99 Deep dish bezels with Lenses - Red (pr) Fits: ‘04-’06 FLTRI, FLHRS, FLHTCSE, FLHX, FLHTCUSE, ’00-’06 Deuce

Good luck
