2001 SE Road Glide. Just had the inner primary off to replace some seal and bushings. When I start it I get a squeal that last for 1 or 2 seconds after it starts.

I replaced all seals and the bushing in the outer housing for the starter jackshaft.

It seems to me the noise is coming from the front of the primary housing but it is difficult to tell for certain.

Any ideas?

 

i'm leaning toward the starter clutch. i'm not sure if there's a way to check it, but do some research on the starter clutch.

 

It turned out to be the bearing I replaced in the outer primary cover. It was already displaying an uneven wear pattern. I honed it out and put back together. All is well.
