Looks like they have been well used.
Did you clean them up or did they come that way?
Why dont you want them now?

Might be late now but I think you would have been better off to have your old heads modified to the engine build.
Buying used heads could be a gamble on what your getting.

looks like a part of the helicoil or something was in the cylinder beating around by the looks of the scars on the combustion chamber. I would have them checked out before I bolted them on anything.

Post the link to the ebay auction--it may have included pictures of exactly what you're now unhappy about. If so, you're probably stuck. If not, you should initiate a claim.

Sounds like you got exactly what you paid for, well used heads with stripped out bolt threads.. Some time you have to take the good with the bad when dealing with ebay. Dont think you have much of a leg to stand on as far as initiating a claim. As the old saying goes, "buyer beware".

11 helicoils!? WTF? Did he put that in the description? Must have been a moron building an engine with an impact wrench! There's no doubt that something was being bounced around in the cylinder/combustion chamber. I'd be surprise if the valve seats aren't all scarred up too. Theres no way I'd put those heads on anything other than a beater and I'd have reservations about doing that.

Did the seller post (as is, no refund)? If not and you used pay pal you can file a claim. I sure hope you didn't pay $1150, or even 1/2 that, the 25k should have been a warning. Well I hope all works out for you.

Thumbs down Bad deal?

The thread inserts wouldn't bother me at all, if they were done right. The one picture which has a coil hanging out into the chamber, not good. Most "Real" aluminum automotive heads on race cars (Pro Stock, Comp Elim., S.S.) will come with inserts from the cylinder head porter.

The chamber damage is another thing. Could be fixed, but the way it is now, not usable. All those little indents have sharp edges which are pontential places for hot spots to form. Not good. Any compenent cylinder head shop should be able to clean them up, which will gain chamber volume, loosing compression unless the deck surface of the head is cut.
