Regarding the Rotor noise. A while back when I was at the dealer for service the warranty guy showed me a moco bulletin regarding squeaky rotor noise. It stated that to stop the noise the rotors had to be aligned properly. To do this they recommended sticking a pencil threw one rotor and if the rotors are aligned properly the pencil should pass directly from one rotor to the other. According to the memo this will get rid of the squeaky rotor noise.

hey guys, your being a little HARSH on Pitt.

Hey if I had a Lemon, I sure wouldn't be making lemonade with it...I'd be pretty upset as well. He's
waiting for HD to come out with a fix. On the last 2007 tranny poll, there are LOT'S of bikes with issues.

I'm glad I'm not one............

Pitt, I think I'd ask how much for a trade in?????? if you lose $500........that might be a good trade IMO.

I know how he feels, I had a 2004 Ford F-250 6.0, the truck spent more time in the shop than on the road.......... I got fed up with it and now drive a 2006 F-350 6.0 (i still didn't learn...LOL) 13k not oner day in shop or any problem (knocking on wood)

[color=#0033FF]Why is this guy posting for another bike owner?

Let him do it himself. You sure got some feedback.

Now that Pitt has posted for another.....do we have to sit and wait for the results as well?

I don't know if there alot of bikes with "problems" , there does seem to be quite a few with unexplained noises but few actual breakdowns. There are alot more happy '07 owners than dissapointed ones, that's for sure. Pitt's posts are repetitive, bringing nothing new to any discussions and quite frankly they are nothing more than whining and bellyaching.

My posts have been repetitive and Im sorry for that, but I was one of the early guys going threw all this with dealers,MOCO,Reps that considered me nuts.Always getting the same answers from all partys and still having a bike that I knew wasnt the way of others.I have paid for things out of my own pocket to make this bike right and to have it documented.Just getting a dealer to document this noise early on was tough. This clatter noise was instantly classified w/5th gear whine, which added to the craziness. As more learned that yes they also had the same problem the MOCO has given more feedback and sort of stated this noise is more widespread than mine.It took alot of complaining to everything imagable to get this far. Many here have also jumped in and let others know what was found, tried, didnt work and findings have helped some or at least eased the racket. Some loose comps have been found, the PC111s and slipons have helped, even 103 maps. Some dealers just bought back the bike.More than one thing is effecting some of these bikes and some here I have spoke to have problems greater than I.This is wider than 50 to 100 bikes in my eyes,I could be wrong. Also this thread was copied from another site and just posted here.I have no ties to this poster other than buying parts from him.

SERVICE BULLETIN
M-1192A July 17, 2006
SWAPPING AND ALIGNING FIXED DUAL DISCS

Purpose

It has recently been determined that swapping and aligning the front brake discs on motorcycles having fixed dual disc brakes can significantly reduce brake squeal. Therefore, effective June 26, 2006, the front brake discs will be swapped and aligned on all production motorcycles having fixed dual disc brakes. The running change moves the former left side brake disc stamped P/N 44156-00 LEFT to the right side of the hub, and the former right side brake disc stamped P/N 44136-00 RIGHT to the left side of the hub. The
vent holes are then aligned before the discs are fastened to the hub.

Also, in the interest of promoting customer satisfaction, Harley-Davidson will swap and align the front brake discs on affected motorcycles under warranty, but only when responding to customer complaints of excessive brake squeal.
See REQUIRED DEALER ACTION.

Motorcycles Affected
All 2000-2006 model motorcycles, as well as those 2007 models built before June 26, 2006, having fixed dual disc brakes that exhibit excessive front brake squeal.

Another way to determine whether the brake discs have been swapped is to look at any of the five slots. Note that one end of the slot is bulb shaped and is more fully round than the other. On wheels where the brake discs have NOT been swapped, the bulb shape is on the trailing end of the slot when referencing the direction of wheel rotation. On wheels where the brake discs have been swapped, the bulb shape is on the leading end of the slot.

I don't have problem, and I hope I don't ever develope one, with my brakes but I wonder how HD will align the rotors on my bike since I have the solid spun aluminum wheels?

A Few breakdowns? how about NONE,NADA,ZERO for any problem these guys have been talking about, most of these noises are now realized to be normal for the design, 5th and starter and the clatter has even been corrected by retorquing the compensator read that just the other day on here. So soon they will be fixed and the harley guys with buyers remorse will just have to enjoy the ride or buy a goldwing. LOL

Ive been in Fla for several days. I originally posted that on MSN's Harley Tech Talk because I was asked to provide my list to others...the HTT forum has over 30,000 members. I didnt post it anywhere else for a reason. But if someone wanted to post it here, ok by me. If the bike had not been hit, I would have waited until winter on the warranty issues. I got 47 direct emails from that one posting... all asking specific questions about one or more of the items I have an issue with. So others are having the same issues.

The great part of net forums is the exchange of info by all sorts of people that share a common interest. The downside is the keyboard commandos that sling terms of newbie & rub and other crap around... maybe to just build up their own lack of intelligence...or simply some peoples lives suck so bad, they have to share the misery. Every site has a few of them... no difference here.

If my bike had not been new & under warranty...I would have torn it down to find the compensator knocking issue & found a solution and the trans as well for the howling....Straight cut gears do not have to make a noise if the lash is set correctly. Too much or too little clearance can make any gears whine or even scream under load. The rest is mostly stuff I can easily correct in time but wanted HD to know another customer has multiple issues on a new bike.

>I really dont expect HD to do much of anything to correct my issues....but since it was there for the wreck estimate, I figued... give it a shot.
>I didnt know HD had issued a paper on the rotors... at the time all I knew was the 06s rotors were mounted the opposite way.
>I knew the starter clunk would be ok... but it was there
>One of the motor stabilizers has a busted rubber isolator in it, I suspect thats the vibration
>I suspect one of the O2 sensors is causing the bad idle & stalling in traffic

As for the newbie comment & I dont know a piston from a.... reference.... ya'll can go pound sand for all I care. I figure if Im good enough to build several top fuel motors, Im good enough to work on my own.
