Default Gas mileage & heat

I bought a new 2011 Ultra Classic Limited 103 last October with 2 miles on it and the dealer had installed 4" Screamin Eagle Performance Pipes on the bike out of the crate so they could sell it faster. We put 2000 miles on the bike as of early April and I was averaging around 137 miles per tank of gas (6 gallon tank) or 23 miles per gallon. Was not happy should have got better gas mileage and the bike also road very hot much hotter than my 2007 Road King I traded in. Went on ride with a bike builder last month and he advised me to do several things, put on new air cleaner, install a race commander, put new true dual headers and pipes on and I would see a world of difference. OMG did it, gas mileage went to 192 miles per tank or 32 miles per gallon, bike runs much cooler & efficient don't shift as much and sounds awsome!!! Yes, it was an investment but well worth it and will pay for itself in a year or so the way we ride every weekend.

On my 2010 FLHTCU i've made Stage 1 with SE Cleaner and SE Performance mufflers.
Gas mileage is better. Still hot and not the HD sound yet.
So I've ordered S&S power tune headpipes : they will be in place by end of May. Hope to fix everything.

You should be getting better mileage than 32! I had my 96" bumped up to a 103 & if I keep outta the throttle I get in the low 40's if I tromp on it I still get in the upper 30's.

Man, that gas mileage seems really low to me. Although I have a 96, not a 103 mine has pipes, stage one DL, and AC and it gets about 40-42 usually and mid 40's if I really watch it. It will open up a bit once you get a few more miles but 32mpg seems way off.

Welcome from Las Vegas!

I am in the same boat as the OP. 2011 SG, 450 miles on it on for the first 2 1/2 tanks. It isn't getting great mileage. My assumption was maybe the computer runs the bike rich for the first 500-1000 miles to help the break in period?

Oh btw, other than the mileage I freaking love my bike. Can't wait for the wife to get outta school so I can star dropping toys onto it.

My '10 FLHTK gets lousy mileage too. When it was stock I got from 29-34 from tank to tank. Easy riding, no speeding, no hot rodding. 11,000 miles in this trim.

I put on a FuelMoto Jackpot 2-1-2 headpipe, Supertrapp SE mufflers, SE Ventilator intake w/K&N filter, and a PC - V. MPG went up slightly, now I can reasonably expect around 35mpg or so, best to date was 38. 12,100 miles to date so it's "broke in". Amsoil everywhere so it's got good oil. 40 psi front/rear. I'm doing everything I can to get better mileage. It is fun to ride though and goes down the road nice.

My 2011 Street Glide with a 103 has about 2200 miles on it. I am not easy on the throttle. I like to hear my money's worth screaming out of the exhaust. I have a Ness stII intake, Fuelpak, power duals, and twin slash ovals. Put in Screaming Eagle plugs and wires(because I can). I haven't switched to synthetic oil yet. I am averaging 43+ mpg with most of those miles(80%+) in town.
