Default Anyone's 2 cents

New to this side of the forum, Road King now, no more Sporty. Got a 2001 RK in Nov 10, ran good the 2 times I had it out. Stored for winter, full tank, stabil, oil change, etc. Took it out this spring and when it warmed up it started to hesitate and sputter at about 1/4 throttle. Idle and 1/2 throttle and beyond all good. Added Seafoam last tank, about halfway through that. Any thoughts or suggestions welcome, new to this bike, thanks.

finish running the sea foam through it. Sounds like a gummed up carb to me.

I am guessing your issues are beyond control. That being the case I will offer you a grand for the bike. My loss is your gain. So sorry for your misfortunes but I am being sympathetic and hope you take this seriously..... I can always use the bike for parts if there are any worth salvaging.

Okay. Consistently 1/4 throttle? Or just once in a while. Storage caused problems are usually fuel related. It's possible you had gas in the bike with a high amount of ethanol that separated.

Yeah, always at 1/4-1/3 throttle and when it warms up. Cold it's good and any more throttle it runs fine. Just don't know enough about the sensors, etc on this bike. My Sporty would give you codes through the speedo. May have to run a couple of tanks to see, but weather sucks.

I would finish this tank and put a fresh tank of gas in it before tearing into things. Even with Stabil ethanol can separate.

I'd change the fuel filter and check for the infamous pinhole condition in the tube as well just for good measure.

I guess may you should get out and wake her up a couple of times during the winter and let her come a live.
