I have the HD Diamond Black grips on my 07 and the left goes under the switch housing just fine.

pre or mid-trip mods are the devil.

what can go wrong, will go wrong.

Grip changing is a piece of cake...........(changed dozens over the years)

Major "rule"........(and I hate rules)..........enjoy the trip and put grips on when you get back.

JMO Donot make any changes to bike just before or during a trip. What can go wrong will go wrong. Wait until you get back. Don't want to ruin a great trip. Ride Safe & have a great time

If you decide to change the grips during the trip, make sure you're not parked near a storm drain when doing the throttle grip.

Have a great trip and be safe!!

Pick up a decent set of gloves instead and change out the grips later....

I agree with a lot of the others on here, don't do mods mid trip. It is different if something goes wrong in your driveway, versus the parking lot of a motel.

Given that, if you still want to go ahead and do it, pay extra special attention to the little brass ferrules on the throttle and idle cable. They can slip off and fall and roll three to five miles. I would certainly spread a towel or something below to catch them.
