I never use any glue on the left side on late model bikes. The grip gets held in place under the switch housing.

He has an 07. it must be glued on... 08 and newer go under the switch housing.

You might luck out & get some help,but if you want them that bad & worried about doing the work yourself, just have the HD shop do the install. OR wait until you get home. Just my 2cents. Enjoy your trip!!!

My King is an 07 never glued the left grip down it was held down by the switch housing. Weather it should be or shouldn't be I've been running them for 2 years w/o glue on the left and it hasn't moved. Just my $0.02

My 07's are not glued, They go under the switch housing. I have a 2000 Road king that go under the switch housing as well but they have been changed out to Chrome ones at some point.

It's something he can do in the parking lot in about 10 minutes with a Torx 25, 27, two small adjustible wrenches, and a Razor. Seriously easy. Hardest part is keeping track of the little brass cable end-thingys.

Pretty sure 96 up go under the switch housing. No glue needed.
