Default What happened?

I've read through a load of posts, but my problem wasn't covered. I took my 2000 Ultra in for a 30k and to have a leaking rear main seal fixed. I got the bike back and noticed that I have lost about 75+ mile per tank! I went through a few of tanks it to confirm the situation. Before the service I was getting 225 per tank, from full to idiot light, now 145 per tank. This was after the winter/summer fuel change too. The shop wants me to bring it back in to play the guessing game, but at $90 an hour I can do the same thing and save the dough.

Update 5/19/11:
The clutch was fried, to the point that the pack plates were blurple (blue-purple). Had an upgraded clutch installed with a 20% increased clamping force. I rode it from the shop to San Diego (29 miles) and the bike broke down. The charging system took a dump.

Another update 6/6/11: The entire charging system was crap, cascade effect. I had to take it to the shop to replace it since none of us had the special stator removal tool. Well, 250 miles later, she's running strong. The charging system was putting out 6-8 volts for the past year, which the shops said was normal. Now, I have 14 volts output.
How come everything is normal, until it breaks? Then, people say "Oh, you didn't know that?"

Are you parking outside at night where someone is siphoning your gas? LOL!

I wish it was as easy as somebody stealing my gas, but it's locked up in the garage. I called Power Commander about the software and they said it wouldn't affect it. Tire pressures are good, no new weight or add-ons.

There really isn't anything in 30k service that would effect your gas mileage. Nor should changing the rear seal.

I would personally have it check out. Just out of curiosity how are your figuring out your fuel mileage? At 225 & 4 gallons that would be 56 mpg or 45 @ 5 gallons but your bike only holds 4.99. At 145/4 it would be 36 or at 5 29.

Fluids and spark plugs are the only recommended replace for the service. Everything else is inspect, perform, lubricate or tighten.

This doesn't solve your problem but gives a little insight. Check for fuel leaks etc. Check your plugs to see if you are running rich (black and oily looking).

How is your throttle response? There a few things that could cause this.

Good luck.

Response is good, except in fifth gear. When I punch it, the engine bogs and slowly gains power. It didn't do that before. I checked the plugs and they're fine. The shop that installed the Power Commander said to bring it in to them first to run a dunk and check the programmer. I'll post an update when I get their feedback.

The performance shop thinks it might be the clutch needing replacement based on the latest event. On the way to the shop I way in second gear and barely gaining speed at 4000 RPM.
