With all the new fitment stuff at the dealer ,I would see if they would let you try one out for a short jont you have already spent a pile of $ there . I know my dealer would in a minute.

I bought a take off seat from an Ultra and sent it to Mean City to be custom fitted for both of us. I think I paid $90 plus shipping for the seat on eBay, and $150 to Mean City...best seat I have ever had. 3000 miles in 14 days on a trip a few years back, and many more trips since, no complaints at all.

Since you will only use it for this trip, this might be a cheaper way to go than buying a new seat....

Do those gel pads work well? If so, I'd try that.

I also have the SD seat and feel that it is comfortable but pushes me to far forward.. (about an inch over stock) I am 6'1" with a 32 inseam.

Try the tallboy. I really like mine for riding two up! (I've got a c&c fastback for when I'm riding solo.)
