Well Mr. JCleary....My pre-ignition problems went away with my Fuel Moto set up. It has the capabilities to retard or advance the timing as needed. I think your main problem is People tend to fear things they know nothing about. Obviously you are a member of that group, Hell you may be their leader!

It may not necessarily be the 87 octane, especially at this altitude but just poor quality gas. Don't get cheap when it comes to gas or oil. You've got one hell of a machine there and it deserves the best. Use premium and go with a good brand.

Thanks, I really have no intention of going cheap. I get the best gas I can, and was stuck with the options I had at the moment.

Love the bike!

Pinging is the sound of your motor self destructing. It is NEVER acceptable. Never keep riding if you hear constant pinging. If it takes a fuel management unit to fix it, so be it.
