"Batwing" Fairing for my Road King?
#21
You need to really ask the question "why?". If you are doing it for a more comfortable ride, then you should test ride a few batwing bikes. I personally don't feel the Batwing makes a more comfortable ride. If it is for a stereo or just a fresh appearance style, then the batwing is a good addition to your Road King.

i saw a demonstration of the batwings they were putting on fatboys, road kings and several other models. for the fl like your roadking, they clipped into place using the same connectors that the road king windshield uses. they looked pretty practical and would change the looks of your roadking instantly.

Looks good on your bike. I would be curious what the inner looks like. Any chance of posting pics? Too bad they don't offer it in concord purple...

I use a Dead Center that I bought from a member also, it makes a huuuuge difference from the winshield as far as wind protection is concerned. I use it with a Sony BT3800 car stereo from Walmart, and a Marine remote for controls on the handlebar. The speakers are Polk MM651 marine grade and are awesome even without an amplifier, and I keep my tunes in a USB drive.
This is what my rig looks like, though most of the time I use the two-up seat:
The inside fairing, I painted wrinkle black with a rattle can from Walmart, then I run a heat gun over the paint
The Boat remote is a Sony Marine Commander that I found on Ebay for about 20 bucks. Its mounted on a 2 in. gauge mount close enough to be very useful. The Sony stereos have a small plug receptacle lined with blue plastic in the back of the stereo and the remote plugs into it.
It only has three wires, a positive, a negative, and the stereo plug
Big rubberized buttons, very easy to use in heavy rain and in the winter with gloves.
IMHO, the batwing beats the pants out of a winshield on a windy or cold day, and you can put on a stereo with remote controls for about 200 bucks, but still have the ability to run around town with no fairing on a hot day. Niiiiice...!!!

I am also very interested in a fairing for long rides but my god there are way too many companys that make them now. Ive been researching for 2 weeks and still dont know which one to go with...lol...do I go 4 speakers, 2 speakers? Will they work with my 16"apes? who has the better audio? Its just endless questions!!!! think I better stick with the windshield and put the 2500 into the motor...;-)
