And this is a great accomplishment? I would push my bike off a bridge if it would overheat during non parade riding in 65 degree weather, or 105 degree weather for that matter!

My Wide Glide is the same way:

6th gear is 2.79:1 overall ratio
80 MPH = 422,400 Feet per hour = 7,040 feet per minute = 84,480 inches per minute
84,480 inches divided by 78.55 inches of rolling circumference on the rear wheel = 1,075.5 RPM at the rear wheel at 80 MPH
1,075.5 * 2.79 = 3,000.63 RPM

It's all mechanical.
