I'm 5'9" and have 16" apes on my RoadKing. Best move I've made. I had the same back pain you are talking about and the 16" apes have now made my King an all day bike!

I am getting ready to have 14" outlaw ape hangers installed on my RK. The outlaws (purchased through HD) have a little bend in the bar which brings the bar towards the rider. Does anyone have experience with this type of bar?

 

I was also curious about this because i have a '02 EG.. but do they make apes for the Batwing fairing? and if they do... do they look good? From what everyone says it sounds like the Apes are way more comfortable.. On the stock bars its not so much my back as it is in my armpit/shoulders area, would it help that out if i went with the APES?

 

Went with 16" Apes on my Heritage. Handling feels a little different at first, but you get used to it. I'll never go back.

go for it there is a vendor on the list here hillside customs or something to that effect out of texas.they have package deals send everything u need.except the install.enjoy best thing u ever do.

 

I'm 6' tall.Stock bars were killing me on my 06' RKC.Put 12.5" apes on.Problem solved.At the end of last year put 16" WO's on.Feels great,looks great.You won't be sorry.

 

I have an 07 King, going to put 16s on mine as soon as funds come available. I am 5'11".
