I agree BuckMC, I sell Amsoil and use it in everything I have including my lawn mowers & weed eaters and have for years. I run it in my Cummins Diesel for 25k mile oil changes along with other family members who do the same. I have used Amsoil in my bikes for the last 15 years and never had any related problems. I use 20W50 in Harley tranny in cool weather and 75w90 Severe Gear lube in summer, either one is good.

Any trans should use gear oil. Sure, you can use motor oil, but that's like putting water in a radiator. It works, but it lacks the properties antifreeze has.

Thanks for all the info again and just an update. Played it safe like I said and went with Bel-Ray Big Twin in the gear-box and their Primary fluid as well. Draining the primary, which had dealer installed syn3, came out like dirty water and lots of crap on the drain plug magnet. Both the fluids are red and of a heavier weight than syn3. Took bike for a test ride and day-and-night difference. Shifts way smoother and quieter. I know there are a ton of oil threads, and dont want to start another, just thought I would give my input on a good product. Ride Safe!

Yep, me too. I really like it. Quieted it down and took some of the harshness out of that 1st gear 'clunk'.

+1 on the Amsoil Severe Gear I use the SVT 75/110 for tranny. Quieter and smoother. Amsoil 20/50 in the other 2 holes.

I am also an Amsoil dealer, use it in everything. I use 75w-110 in the tranny. I also use 60wt in the engine, 20w-50 in the primary. Tried all different weights and for the summer, will be 95° here today, this works well.
