Default Help! 08 FLHX clutch cable change

So I have put 14 inch bars on my bike, internally wired everything, gotten nice chrome cables, almost have everything done and BAM! I have no clue how to get the old clutch cable out. I have removed it from the old clutch lever and handlebars, but I can not figure out how to get it out of the transmission itself??

I have a silver cover (where the cable screws into) which is held on by six Allen key bolts (size 3/16) or I have the back cover behind that (black) which is held in by eight allen bolts (size 1/4). All of which is covered by exhaust piping. I'm almost done and need someone who has done this before to get me through this last part?????

Collapse the adjuster on the cable, remove the cover the cable screws into, remove the ball & ramp snap ring inside the cover, unhook cable end, unscrew the cover off the cable, Replace in reverse order. Buy service manual Lol couldn't resist. Welcome to the forum

Got to take the 6 bolts out of the silver cover. May have to loosen the exhaust to get to the bottom 2. Inside the cover you will see where the cable attaches to the arm that works the clutch rod. May have to remove the snap-ring to get the cable disconnected from the arm. Don't loose the 3 ***** that are hiding under the arm. Cable then unscrews from the cover

Ok very good, thank you. I was previously advised to remove the inner cover with the larger Allen bolts but that just did not seem correct. My previous bike was a 1996 heritage softtail and was no where near this complicated.

Thanks for the assistance.

You might want to put a drain pan underneath when you remove the cover. Then you will need to put some oil back in after you put everything back together. I use the super deluxe "Harely 3 in 1 synthetic".
