Default Touring pack power inverter

Anyone have a inverter hooked up in their tour pack? If so, what did you use? Im thinkin mainly for a laptop, coffee pot.
Don't think the tour pack auxiliary power port p/n 91671-10 is up to the job.

It would take a big converter with a very stout cord to run a coffee pot.
Even a 4 cup is 625 watts (52 amps)
They make convertes that big, but your alternator is what, 400 watts?
Laptop, anyone you buy will work.
Coffee? Better bring a backpack stove.

i had a freightliner truck, the inverter ran a microwave,fridge/freezer,laptop,and cellphone..fridge would kill the 7 batterys in 3-4 hours thou.would run it all day then turn it off to sleep..just leaving the inverter on would kill the batts in 3-4 days sitting..the rear atep bumper was rusted, between loads, i stripped it in a walmart parking lot with an angle grinder running off the inverter..then painted it in a TA truckstop in guolph ont. the next day..they wanted me to waste a day off at home to do it..

52 amps, are you serious? Come on, it's going to pull 5-6 amps max. The biggest breaker in your fuse box at home (besides the AC) is most likely 20 amps, so how do you use your 52 amp coffee pot at home? A coffee pot pulling 52 amps would be using close to 6000 watts.

I'm not saying to use an inverter on your bike, but it is possible to run one, and the coffee pot would not be out of the question.

.
I am serious. 625 watts is only 6 amps at 120 volts, but 52 amps at 12 volts.
Amps = watts/volts

First off, it will be running on 115v, that's what the converter is for, second, if it was a DC pot, it still would require no where close to that much power, since DC is a constant supply.

Not to go into and give an engineering speech on an HD forum, but it just doesn't work that way.

The inverter is pulling all of the power. It takes a lot of amperage to convert 12vlts to 110-120.
An inverter with no load will suck you battery dry(motor not running) in a very short amount of time.

These numbers below are averages. I dont think ive seen those mini inverters over 400watts. Anyone know what size charging system. Been readin a little and im finding 38 and 45 amp charging system on Harleys. Maybe it will say in my shop manual.

Quoting this from another forum:
" At 45 amps you should have a nominal 540 watts of available capacity to run all your goodies, roughly.

You should be able to find out how many watts each device requires...

45 generator amps x 12 system volts = 540 watts"
Ive read at least 700 to run a coffee maker.

Found this on the net, not for my bike but..... 29999-97B ALTERNATOR UPGRADE KIT, 45 AMP/ROTOR at Surdyke
Im also just kickin this around, thinkin out loud.
The inverter would only be used when the bike is running.

Computer System 200 watts
Microwave Oven 1200 watts
Power Drill 400 watts
Large Vacuum 1200 watts
Coffee Maker 900 watts
Circular Saw 1500 watts
Toaster 800 watts
Blender/ Juicer 1000
