I used the 3m plastic product. Cut to fit and install. No body has noticed until I show them the edge. Shine shows through.

The velcro is a PITA. It is attached with adhesive and the velcro material is white which sticks out like a sore thumb. I used a marker to color mine black. If I had it to do over I'd go with Mustang.

X5 Mustangs, no velcro. I have left mine on for months, no issues. Just as clean as when I put them on.

I was just considering something like this. I'm going to the ROT Rally in June (riding from GA) and might need to strap my new tentcot across the back seat instead of the tour-pak luggage rack. So I figured I'd need something to protect my saddlebag lids if I end up putting it across the seat and tying it down to the saddlebag brackets.. I'm not big on the clear adhesive 3M-type stuff. But the RideTech ones look good to me. I won't leave them on all the time but the kind that has the bags that strap down to them (lid haulers) might be nice to have around.
