Default internal handle bar wiring

Could anyone help me. I will be getting parts back from my painter soon. I am getting the bars painted too. I thought there was a thread here somewhere that shows how to remove the pins from the duestch (spelling) connector, and the home made tool to do so as well. I want to go this way instead of cutting and soldering. I have a 2000 Road Glide. If anyone knows of this thread, could could please enlighten me. Much Appreciated.

Some of the handlebar web sites have instructions, or just Google it. I believe your connectors are called deutsch connectors.

Its not that hard I use a sewing needle when i do mine. Take the gate loose at the rear of the connector you stick the needle into the front of the connector where the small round hole is above the connector slot and lift the little tab up, hold the small tab up and slide the connector out works great.

You don't need any "special tools" to remove/install pins/sockets into Deutsch Connectors. Just got done re-wiring my bike with them. Here's how:

I agree - no special tool needed. I used an X-Acto knife.

Pretty good detailed pics and advice on the connectors in this thread:

Thank-you everyone. Very much appreciated. Got my special paper clip tool ready to go, just need to pick up some beer. Once the bike is put together, I will be asking how to post pictures. This forum is awesome.
