I'm looking into enclosed trailers so I can get out of MN in the winters. Will this size trailer fit a RG and SG? Should I go with a 8.5X14 flat nose instead?
A friend of mine has one and I have to take off the 8.5 windshield on my SG in order to load it. He has to remove the windshield on his Road King too. I took it to Phoenix one winter and it was a real pain. Do yourself a favor and buy one with at least a 6ft ceiling.
The 2 bikes will fit just fine, you'll just have to offset them a little. The V nose & reduced height will definitely make it pull easier & you'll get better mileage. You have to decide if bending over a little is worth saving a hundred or 2 on gas, it's not like you're going ti live in it.
When shopping I liked Interstate a lot but Wells Cargo the best. Thought both were better than Haulmark. Bought the Wells. Shop around a lot. Good luck.
Bought a 7X12 v-nose for hauling 2 touring bikes and I have plenty of room after off-setting them for anything extra I want to carry. Mounted 2 spare tires against the front wall, e-track on the floor and mounted 2 wheel chocks permanent to the floor. the size for me was just right.
I have a 7X16 V-nose that I use for various things.
It will fit our two bikes staggered.
But if I was buying again, that extra foot wide would be top of my list. Followed by a flat front. The V-nose is nice cutting the air, but kind of a waste of good space.
I have a 6X12 and when staggered they fit fine. BUt I have an Ultra and a dyna. Now that I took off the crash bar I am sure I will have more room . I first had the ultra and that was the sole reason that I got it. Then can the dyna. So go figure niether one is left on the curb. If I was goingt o trade Yes I would go with the extra foot both ways.
