Even better is where it occurred. I coasted into the lot of this fine establishment:
Oh well, could have been much worse. I did over 300 miles today and this happened at the end of the day, less than 6 miles from home. Much of my riding was in deserted territory, so the same thing happening two hours earlier would have been some really bad $@#!.

How long is a typical life of a belt?
Glad you're so close to home when it happened. I had a belt go for 55K+ miles, put on a replacement and it lasted less than 60 days. Dealer told me it was warranted for 30 days. So go figure. I'm into 30K+ with this one and still looks like new. You never know.
you should try going into a rice bike shop sometime. They actually sell bikes and parts there! You won't have to walk through the 3000 square foot " lifestyle boutique" and Tee shirt store to get to the parts department.
