Default Rear tire wear

Just wanted to commend Dunlop on the MU85B16 (p/n: 0308-0001) rear tire that came with my Street Glide in February of this year.

I just passed 14.7K miles and still have about a thousand miles to go before new skins...like clockwork I put 15K miles on my bike every eight months, that works out to 90K miles every four years.

This is by far the most mileage I've ever gotten out of a rear tire.

Was thinking of going with the D404 (p/n: 0306-0005), it doesn't have the HD logo and is about 5 millimeters taller AND is $50.40 cheaper than the D402.

Anyone gettting the same results with the 404 as the 402?

Check the load rating for the 404.

The 402 is the only Dunlop rated for the HD touring bikes.

Check plies too.

How does the 90K affect your trade in ?? Do you get a spanking from the dealer ? Most i have ever traded-in was an 04 with 42K.. Dealer said hard to re-sell bike. I have been buying the extended warranty so that the buyer can be confident..

I guess why temp fate...what I have works good, may as well stay with a tire that's a winner.

As far as resale value? I never worry about it, I always say "The bike I have now is MY LAST ONE!", Then something new comes around every four or five years and I get emotional and HAVE TO HAVE a new toy.

I think there is about 7200 miles on my ride and the tire is just bald in the middle. Of course I am coming from a Superglide to a touring bike so I haven't made the adjustment yet!

D404 does not have the load rating the D402 does - would not work for the real big tourers. Would like to find a tire where I can get more than 10K. Really sucks to have to change the tire every year.
