Default Tour Pack Install 2011 SG

I just installed the 4-point mounting hardware for my tour pack

53276-09A RACK
54205-09 DOCKING KIT

Every thing seemed to got good BUT!

The docking kit instructions have you add a spacer onto the long mounting point towards the front of the bike.

When you go to mount the quick release rack it wants to clip in onto the spacer and not on the black rubber mount.

The rear portion looks right it clips to the rubber mount.

If you switch the spacer and rubber mount in front the chrome covers will not attach properly.
48035-09COVERS (2)

It seems to work like this but why?
Are there other accesories that require staggered mounting points?

Thanks,

Justr went thru the same thing with my friends 2010. Didn't seem right, went to the dealer, yep it goes on the spacer. They claim the backrest sits correctly in the insert.

Correct, the front mounts on the spacer not the plastic mount.

just installed 4 pt. docking hdw. on 2011 RKC . I thought I had the wrong detachable sissy bar, cause I thought it went into the frt. mount where the spacer was. After a half an hr and much frustration finally found a picture of a properly installed sissybar and realized the front fork slips into the shock mount. The rear dock and the chrome mounts are for additional luggage racks and / or tour pack installation. So happy I cracked open another beer! 300 mi on new Classic. Rinehart TDs, Heavy Breather, SE Race tuner..

Remove one present bolt per side, screw in 3 chrome bolts per side that come with the kit, screw in the four bushings and your done. About 10 minutes if your slow. Use a torque wrench.....Oh, make sure you check the washers, they are different. Follow the enclosed instructions and your do fine..

The front mounts on the Tour Pak should have a rubber gasket on them similiar to the backrest, correct? The back mount won't due to the locking hardware, hence the rubber on the locking stud. Put some pics up when you are finished, I am thinking about getting a tour pak as well and want to see how it looks.
