Default Do I need this bracket?

I just removed the stock header system on my 2007 FLHX this afternoon in anticipation of a new V&H Pro Pipe Chrome arriving early next week.

I noticed what looks like a bracket that seemed to only provide extra support for the rear header pipe where it bends to the left side of the bike. It's mounted right behind what I believe is the starter. Attached is a photo with the bracket highlighted in yellow. Do I need to keep this bracket for any reason??

Thanks for your help!

Regards,
JB

I wouldn't think so since you are going to a 2-1 setup now so nothing is crossing through there anymore.

Not unless you plan to put the stock pipes back on again.

It may need a replacement spacer so the starter pinion going into the primary doesn't extend to far.

You may want to be careful that the starter mounting bolts may now be too long after removing it. They are probably not but just be careful

by the way, you're going to really dig that pro pipe. i really like mine, and no, that bracket isn't needed for the pro pipe.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I sure did look like it wasn't used for anything one the stock headers were removed, but thought it worth while to check with the knowledge base hear to make sure I wasn't going to create any problems for myself.

Others have mentioned that the allen bolts might be too long after removing the bracket. If that's the case, I'll pick up a few washers to solve that problem.

Regards,
JB
