Hot running flhx
hi
2010 sg with 2-1-2 from a 2011 103
ok with the stock 2-1-1 and a rush slipon the heat shield crome bubbled bike onle has 3500 miles--so i put a 2-1-2 from a 2011 on and with the stock mufflers the head pipe would glow red within a few minutes of running SO i got a set of vh slipons and put those on ,well no more glowing of the headpipe and the bike sounds and runs great BUT i still worry about the heat thing--now if i gut the cat WILL I HAVE TO TUNE also the bike is just the rite sound(tone and loudness)will the bike get louder,if so how much, i dont want a screaming loud bike and i cant afford the 450 for the tuner and another 250 for the dyno

You need to get away from the lean EPA setting of 14.7 AFR. I did this with FL-XIED 10's If you aren't planning engine upgrades any farther than stage1, this will do it. I'm running them on mine and my wife's 2010 SG Trike. Her's has the 103 engine. Go to tuneyourharley.com and read about niterider and their product's. I've been using them two years now.

It's possible you had something plugging your stock mufflers though.
But your the only one that can confirm that.
All we are saying is, that it is not normal for them to glow red hot.

when she glowed was right after the pipe swap from the 2-1-1 with rush to the new never run 2-1-2 with stock mufflers and she also ran really rough, alot of vibration, i figured that it was a too rich condition from the preveious exugest set up or just oil in the cat remember this pipe was never run--i read on here that to much gas will restrict the cat and it will also run hot--but if i remove the cat is it going to change the sound to LOUD and will i need to tune it
