Default 2010 Limited rear tire problem

I have about 11000 miles on the rear tire. Problem when going around curve I hear a roaring buzzing noise coming from the rear. Seems worse when turning to the left. I put bike on lift and don't see scalloped type wear as I have seen on other bike front tires. It does have a tapered wear between the sidewall tread cuts. That is it is worn in a wedge shape between the cuts. It is worn thin at one cut and is much thicker at the adjacent cut. The tire is a Dunlop D407 NW 180/65 B16 81H Also the center of the tread is worn flat like the pressure was low. It has never been run low. Looking for ammunition when I take it to dealer. I have seen scalloping problems with the 2009 models posted on here, but not the 2010. Bike was built in 2009 so I guess it could be part of the 2009 issue.

I have 6900 miles on mine and hear a similar sound when leaning into a turn. I checked the tread and don't see any wear issues yet. Keeping an eye on them.

It's a normal sound you get from tire cupping. My Limited does the same thing at 10500 miles. The buzz will go away with a new tire.

11000 miles, sounds like everything is good, the only thing I would add is, that the very center of a tire wearing, if (and this is a big IF, since I can not tell whether this is the normal center wear) it is wearing more than it should, would be caused by over inflation, not under inflation.

A: 11k is about all that you get out of one of these tires, do you know how much tire is left ? 9/32 new worn out at 1/32 B: tire worn in the middle is not low pressure but high pressure (more air make the center of the tire contact the road more) C: I had the same type of wear and did a lot of research to find that this is normal

Same thing happened on my limited at 8-9K. As stated before it is cupping of the rear tire. Took mine to the dealer and HD won't warrenty the tire. They were replacing the fronts in 2009 but never the rear. Buy a new one and all will be well again. I am trying the Dunlop American Elite. Very few manufacturers make tires to fit the new (2009 on) Ultras. All I could find are Dunlop, Metzler and recently Avon. IMHO HD or Dunlop should relplace the tire, Looked like I had another 5K life in the tire. Hope the American Elite last longer, completely different tread pattern. Best of Luck to ya.

I am atleast going to give them the pleasure of telling me no. I have been looking at the Elites. There is an Indy here that gave me a price on one. Hope they are available.

They will replace rear tires if they are cupping. Give Customer service a call and tell them your rear tire is making a whining noise and you feel a vibration too. They will give you a reference number to take to the Dealer. They even offered to call the Dealer for me. I said I didn't want to go back to my selling Dealer because they didn't act like they wanted to hear about my problem. She said I could go to any Dealer I wanted to. The Dealer I went to didn't hesitate, they changed both front and rear tires under warranty.
My bike had over 12K miles at the time.
