FOB battery maybe?

Change the battery to eliminate it as a cause. They're cheap.
I would also inspect the antenna on the left side of the bike. Take off the seat and left side panel and make sure everything is connected and that the antenna is in place and not bunched up and hanging down.
Mine will sometimes blink a little and then kick in. I keep the fob in my left pocket so it is closer to the antenna.

It's the battery that goes inside the round key fob that come with bikes, which allows the bike to start without having to enter a security code manually.
I replace mine yearly, even if they don't "need" it yet. The old ones and one new one goes into my tourpak. Insignificant in size to carry extras, and the couple at Waffle House that needed one last year really appreciated my having a spare to give them
