the batteries are cheap and you can even get a two pack of them at walmart. one for each of your fobs.

Change my fob batteries every two years. Just part of a PM schedule I have worked out.

Security fob batteries only last about three years or less.

Change the battery to eliminate it as a cause. They're cheap.

I would also inspect the antenna on the left side of the bike. Take off the seat and left side panel and make sure everything is connected and that the antenna is in place and not bunched up and hanging down.

Mine will sometimes blink a little and then kick in. I keep the fob in my left pocket so it is closer to the antenna.

My fob battery lasted less than a year. I lucked out that I'd finally gotten around to programming the override code a week earlier, otherwise I'd have been stuck in hell....Errrr....New Jersey.

My 09 battery went dead a few months ago. Looks like a two year replacement but like a lot of comments here every year would be a safe bet.

It's the battery that goes inside the round key fob that come with bikes, which allows the bike to start without having to enter a security code manually.

I replace mine yearly, even if they don't "need" it yet. The old ones and one new one goes into my tourpak. Insignificant in size to carry extras, and the couple at Waffle House that needed one last year really appreciated my having a spare to give them
