Default Little help with clutch adjustment

I have a 2001 RK that I just put a easy pull on the clutch cable. I followed the service manual and all is working except the clutch engages when the lever is almost all the way out, and I'd like it more in the center. If I loosen the lock nut do I turn the adjustment counterclockwise Magee 1/2 turn or am I way off?

no, clockwise, shorten the adjuster a little. Make sure the primary fluid is heated up good before you make any adjustments.

Thanks FABRIC8r I'll make that adj after work tomorrow. But why does the oil need to be hot? The manual says to adjust at room temp. Thanks

You're right the book says room temperature, but I always make that final tweak after its warmed up, so the friction zone is right where I want it when riding. Did you observe the early lever engagement right after the install or did you go out and ride it for a while and warm up the fluid. If you didn't warm up the fluids, dont make any adjustments until you do and see how it feels. If what you described was cold, it may lunge forward at a stop after its warmed up, so it might need adjusted the other way. Feel it out. I recently changed over to hydraulic and initially my friction zone was at the other end of the lever travel almost touching the handgrip, after it warmed up the zone shifted to the middle of the lever travel. take a couple wrenches on a ride and mess with it.
