Default If you had $1800 and had to choose....

I sold my 1998 FXDWG and purchased a nice 2006 RK Custom. I absolutely love it..

It has some chrome a stage 1 and some rush slip ons that came on the bike.

Here is my my question. I have about 1800.00 and the two options I have are:

  1. I would love to throw some true duals of some sort on there ( I wont ask which ones are best) I will probably go with rineharts or V &H. these are about a 1000.00 Sert 400.00 installation and dyno 400.
  2. Screaming Eagle stage 2 (95 kit) 1800.00 installed and leave the same exhaust.
I wish I had 3500.00. any direction or suggestiion?

How important is torque and performance to you?

It's a no brainer to me, go with the 95" kit.

Duals will likely NOT out perform your current set up. I wouldn't spend $1,800 just for sound. Rush's you can change out the baffle if needed. Plus they sound pretty good to me.

I guess the big question here is what's more important to you: More power, or better Sound?

Do you think you will end up with the big bore later on? Then do that now and change pipes later.

You need to prioritize. These aren't race bikes but a little more ooomphh never hurts and makes for a happy wrist.

You can't go wrong either way. But $1800 is steep just for sound when your bike already has exhaust. You may like the sound better on your current setup too after a big bore kit.

Good luck and lets us know what you decide.

If you are looking for more power and torque: #1 will not impress you, #2 will.

But won't you need a SERT and Dyno with the #2 also?

You could get the headers and pipes from one of our Vendors and save some cash.
I know you said SERT but alternatively you could use a PowerCommander and map setup from Fuelmoto for your setup costing no more than 300 bucks a savings of 500 bucks over a SERT + Dyno time.

Lots of options...

Well, Sound is cool, and I am on a "customize my ride kick" right now... I bought the windshield, added some nice tunes via a cycle sound handlebar speaker kit (which rocks by the way even on the highway).

I guess the 95 kit would be more fun and since I already have the sert I guess that would make sense.

Dealer install is the way to go I am assuming... since I definitely cant do it... and I have not found any locally owned harley shops in louisville anywhere.

I actually just got a SERT in preperation. the dealer qouted my 1800 and some change for the stage 2 kit installed and tuned on the dyno.

Yup the Stage II 95". You don't need SERT. The dealer will load the canned map for you. BTW: if you want performance the TDs are not the way to go, they cost you torque.
