It wouldn't hurt to check out the guy "in a bad neighborhood" and see what kind of work he does. You never know, he may gods gift to bodywork. And who's to say the dealer wouldn't farm it out to somebody who does a worse job. But make it plain to your wobbly friend/acquaintence that you're under no obligation to use the guy if he can't provide evidence that he can do a factory-quality job.

I agree. He's not being much of a friend if he thinks he can go cheap & fix your bike. HE made the mistake, not you. If he can't afford to pay for the consequences, then he shouldn't be riding. Bet he never thought of that before going out to practice his riding skills with you.

In the end, it'll cost you more money (when this shady dude Fcks up your paint job) or it will cost him more money (by him going through his ins com). He Fcked it up, he pays. That's the cost of stupid. He shouldn't be doin stupid things when he doesn't have a job and is scared of his insurance company. Looks like you lost a riding partner, but you get your bike back the way it should be.

Exactly; his insurance won't go up for one little fender bender.
If he won't work with you.
He's BS-ing you.
Call your insurance company and see if you can claim it on your's and then let them re-coup it from his.
Most insurance companies will "give you one."

A friend wouldn't put you in that situation. Turn it into your insurance who will in turn contact him & get his inurance info. That's why we pay for insurance.

I gotta agree - he isn't really thinking about you and your machine by trying to get out of the insurance deal. If I were to make a mistake and run into someones bike, I would turn it into insurance - no matter what. Why? Because that's what I would want done. It may be a tough decision but sometimes tough decisions HAVE to be made. It ain't personal - it's business. Messing with a mans bike is like messing with his ol' lady...... Well maybe worse.

Sounds to me like the guy shouldn't be riding if he keeps failing on his bike. But I wouldn't take it to Joe Blow take it to were you want to go. If you know his insurance info or not I'd contact YOUR insurance company and let them do the foot work that's what there job is contact his insurance and get the work done end of story. I would of given him the Five Fingers of Death if he hit my bike!

I agree with this statement to a "T". You must cover your own #ss.
