Default check engine

went to ride the bike today and when I got down the road, I noticed the voltage gauge was going from 16 volts to 12 volts back and forth ( it never done this...always on 16 v ) and then noticed red light on speedometer was on.....I havent had time to check it out.......does anyone have any ideas ?????

you're voltage should not read 16v. if your gauge is accurate, then you got a problem. should be pushing 14.2 volts back to the battery. sounds like you're voltage regulator.

Default Recently got mine back for same thing

Voltage Regulator and Stator were bad on my 2008 Ultra with 73,000 miles. This is the 3rd stator and 2nd regulator since bike was new. Had the bike back 5 days and now been in the shop another week for front wheel bearings.

its read 16v since it was new....never had a problem,,,now its back and forth with the check engine light on
