Default Oil Leak 10 FLHTC

(FLHTC 2010) My wife and I took the bikes out of the garage for the first ride of the season and I found oil leaking from the bearing housing assembly where the rear exhaust mount bracket is bolted. There are 2 bolts going through bracket that also hold on the housing assembly/cover that are finger loose. Looks like the only way to get to them is remove exhuast. No way can I get a ratcet in there. I'll probably call shop tomorrow to come and get it. I don't think it would be good to ride it there. I'm wondering if I should tell them to replace the gasket too??
What a bummer! Back in the garage went the bikes.

It's 2 screws #3 on drawing. This is a great site to save by the way.

I am very interesting in your bike problem , but I have no clue with your description. A pic will help much.
Hopefully, the shop will take care of the problem for you.
Let us know what it is, for a new bike!

It is a common problem. There have been a lot of posters on here with the same issue, some have even had the bolts fall out.I'm lucky, mine didn't leak, but I just replaced that bracket with a powder coated one,the original looked like crap after a year,it was all rusted. You can tighten them up by removing the heat shield and using a ball 1/4 inch allen wrench.Use Blue Thread locker too.I cut off the short end of an allen wrench to get in there and make sure they were torqued in there good.

Had problems with my 10 FLHTK, Thought it was the oil pan leaking and again the front cover on the tranny. But no, it was the seals between the primary and the tranny. Dealer resolved the issue on warranty with no hassels.

It doesn't seem like there is room for the bolts to pull out all the way. Can you get a ball end allen in there or does it need to be cut?

The bearing housing assembly is what the clutch cover is mounted to. I'll put a link in my post.

Yes,the bolts will come out all the way.Mine were tight, but I used a cut allen wrench(not a ball),working in the small space between the bolt heads and the exhaust, to get them started, then used a ball allen that goes on a 3/8 drive ratchet to get them out the rest of the way.It is a steep angle working over the top of the exhaust once you remove the shield.

i circumvented this potential problem by putting on dresser duals this bracket is replaced and i had a chance to torque them up with red threadlocker.

expensive fix for me.

Ok, thanks. Reading some searches now. I had no idea this was common. I have ball allens but nothing for a ratchet/torque wrench. Maybe I can get them tight enough to bring to dealer to have torqued and Lock Tited. Don't want to keep going through this.
Thanks

I did remove/loosen shield to get a ball end allen on them. I snugged them using pliers to turn and pushing in but there is no way they are tight enough with that extreme angle. Good enough though that I should be able to drive to dealer instead of them picking it up.
