Default Need Urgent Help = Clutch

Getting ready to go on my first ride of the year and my clutch is not engaging. Brand new 2011 Road Glide. Drove it from from dealer a few weeks ago all was fine. Anyway I got the pivot pin out of the clutch lever but how do I get the lever out to adjust tension? Thanks

Nevermind I found the adjuster on the cable by the frame. I got the cable as tight as could be but the clutch will still not engage.I pull in the clutch lever but bike will still not roll freely and when I start it it lurches.

First, put the pivot pin back in. Second, get your owner's manual out and read the directions on clutch adjustment. Its done with the slack adjuster down in front of the engine.

if this is a cable type clutch you do not need to remove the lever. The first thing you need to do is put all of the slack in to the cable by losing the jamb nut on the cable and making the cable as short as it will go.. next with the bike cold you need to remove the primary cover. you will now see the clutch. loosen the 11/16 nut and back off the center screw (allen head) by hand screw the allen head in until there is no free play. do this a few times to get the feel of it. now back off the allen head 1/2 turn and while holding it tighten the 11/16 jamb nut. now expand the cable so that you end up with about a dimes with between the perch and cable collar when you pull on the cable..before you tighten the cable jamb nut work the clutch several times and recheck at the perch and cable Collar.

I would head for the dealer.. if the clutch was not engaging (slipping) that would not be the normal. cables stretch when new and this would be the opposite effect.

That sounds like it's not disengaging. Sticky plates when cold can be normal. As long as you aren't running the SE compensator, using atf in the primary can help with this issue. Start the bike in neutral, then put it in gear. Then you will get the infamous clunk.

Could I have screwed something up when I replaced the shift link bar?

I checked there first. No adjustment procedure is in there.

You can also go on Youtube and enter in HD clutch adjustment and watch the 2 videos to see if you have done it right.
