That sounds like it's not disengaging. Sticky plates when cold can be normal. As long as you aren't running the SE compensator, using atf in the primary can help with this issue. Start the bike in neutral, then put it in gear. Then you will get the infamous clunk.

As you've finally figured out this is normal and your clutch probably does not need adjusting... well maybe now if you've dicked with it.
All of our bikes lurch forward when you start it and are hard to roll when in gear. "Normal"...
also for clarification: the only way to adjust the clutch is inside of the primary as I outlined. adjusting the cable adjusts lever free play not clutch plate clearance. If there is not enough clutch plate clearance this could add to the condition cold when oil is thick .. If I just got the bike I would head back to the dealer on an issue that could be blamed on wear and pilot error.
