Default Does a lowered rear mean you have to lower the front?

I’m looking at getting these 1” lowering blocks from LA Choppers. http://www.lachoppers.com/catalog/display/1313/index.html The site says, “We recommend lowering the front and rear of the motorcycle equally to maintain proper balanced geometry. Front lowering kits are sold separately and available for your motorcycle on this website.”

Should I heed their warning of getting the front end kit too, or is it this companies way to push more product out?

The P&A catalog sells the Profile shocks( same as on SG) which lowers the back of EG 1", and they say the front is optional and not necessary. Just noticed you have a SG. To lower that anymore might be different.

The Streetglide shocks are 3/4 in lower than stock not 1 and1/2. I had the profile shocks and went with custom lowered 1 and 1/2 inch shocks. I would not lower front more than 3/4 inch.I was scraping my floorboards and had to raise them up.

No you don't have to lower the front, I used the lowering block at the 1" hole on my Street Glide with no problem or change in the ride that I noticed...looks better I think. To give you a idea it put my mufflers at the bottom of the brake rotor so from the side view you no longer see the bottom of the brake rotor.....

I lowered the rear of my FLHR 3/4" with SG shocks. Left the front alone, no difference in handling. Your bike already is 3/4" or so lower, so don't know how the front will work out.

Think about air ride, sometimes I ride with it not all the way pumped up. Does not seem to make a diff. But everyone has their own opinion. Mine would be it makes no diff.

I installed a LA Choppers lowering kit on my 11 RG. The blocks are quality and it did not change the handling at all without lowering the front. I ride solo most of the time so I can't tell you what it will be like two up. The roads around here are still frost heaves and I have not bottomed out yet. I went with LA Choppers blocks because they don't change the shock angle and don't have all he other holes to weaken them. I am sure someone will come along and say that you can't do it.

Had the lowered SG shocks installed on my RKC, as part of the purchase deal (at no additional cost). Left the front stock for over a year before lowering it as well. Bike rode just fine.
