Been stopped 3 times in 30 yrs of riding for inspection/license checks and all 3times have been in Va on a Sunday afternoon. Rt 39, 250 and 42. Just came around a curve on a nice 2 lane to find a trooper stopping bikes and checking them.

HD makes a bracket.(sold in the store,$29). You remove bolts on fork and place bracket there and use the fork bolts. Looks good. My buddy has one.

I have seen other brackets that are made for cars that you might be able to attach under rear fender.

Yep I'm with ya. Riding twenty years. Only place I've ever been stopped for inspection check was in Virginia. that's why I started the thread to figure out a decent place on the new frame bikes to mount the plate without looking too chitty.

In Hawaii you could have up to 3 stickers on your car/bike. Inspection, base sticker, and a recon(another inspection for modified vehicles) Im glad I dont have to deal with that **** anymore.

I do have a post sticker now. But I used velcro. I attached velcro to the lower part of my dash where the black meets the chrome on fork and attached sticker to other piece of velcro and placed in saddlebags. So when I know Im going on post I pull it out, velcro it and then remove. A lot easier to take off than that sticker on the fork. You could try that. Not sure where your sticker neds to be.

If you're worried about it, put it on the lower left side of the windshield along with a Fraternal Order of Police contribution star and a US and VA flag. They'll just waive you through as one of the good guys.

In NH they usually put it on the left side of the front fork down near the axle nut....on my HD the dealer put it on the left fork tin....even a little crooked! When I get the new sticker put on I'll make sure they put it down low on the fork and I'll do my best to get the old one off without messing up the tin too much
