electra glide buffeting and air flow issues
For the benefit of anyone it may help...........
I spent the last month trying to get a smooth non buffeted ride on my glide...
FWIW
The fork mounted deflector seems to make the biggest difference...I do not have lowers on my Glide, but I built some fork mount deflectors, they worked well with the original HD windshield..I eventually replaced them with Kuryakin fork deflectors, because they looked better..did not work quite as well as they were smaller
Tried the Long ride shield with the curve, and the Clearview ultra..both worked well, but if you can see over them I still had a little buffeting..ie wearing a 1/2 shell helmet was annoying, but a ball cap just shook, and bare head was quite pleasant
Tried a Clearview 14 inch with the vent to day, 89 miles..ball cap no helmet..hat never moved, glasses never shook, very pleasant. I should add, i added the freedom wings a while back..they help, but in my opinion, not much..they do their best if you have them turned inside out, so they are scooping air toward you..that noticeably smooths out the flow
So so far best ride was with fork deflectors, freedom wings inverted, Clearview 14 with the vent.( the vent does seem to help)..
I am still looking for better ideas..let me know what works for you..
Still cant believe a 18000 dollar M/C needs new shocks, and all this help to get even close to a Jap bike that costs half as much...Still love it though............

that is true, but just like my race car, if I work on it hard enough, it gets faster, or better..I rode em for years with no shield, even did one ride from Teheran Iran to Luxembourg with no shield, but now I like em quiet and buffeting bothers me....I am just trying to help anyone that feels the same..I yall are happy with the 4 inch shield, It sure doesn't bother me.........

I had a 07 FLHT STD. stock W/S,no lowers,or wind deflectors. I wore HD 1/2 helmet with face shield & NEVER had any problems. Of course I never had a HD with a W/S before. This was my first. Back in the "DAY" no one ever complained about "WIND" Isn't this why you ride a motorcycle?
