I have a 2010 and a got the same compliant from a few people I ride with. I was thinking of getting a LED light bar and putting it just above or somewhere near the plate. I also been thinking about turning the running light on the bottom of the fender into a running/brake light. I also like the clean look of the 2010/11 lights and do not want the 1970s large brake light.

I'll probably go that route at some point.

I just got done doing mine (2011 FLTRX)

You'll need:

1/4 drive ratchet
a torx bit to fit the 2 T-20 screws
Something to lay your *** on. This is optional if you don't mind getting your clothes dirty from the ground. I used a large sheet of cardboard.

Lay on your side at the back of the bike on the right side.

Remove the light assembly shield.
Remove 2 T-20 screws
Unclip the wiring on both sides of the light assembly

Do the reverse to put in the new light assembly.

Took me about 10 minutes.

I did the Tri-Bar upgrade (should have come stock on the bike) and it is a nice difference. I am going to do the Kury LED brake light replacements and probably the Kury filler plate LED brake light as well. The Plasma Rods do look pretty slick also.

Custom dynamics LED are great. Simple plug in lights and really brighten up the turn signals also. Money well spent.

Wierd that the Canadian version SG cones with the box light but the bottom fender tri-bar lights dont light up. Cable for the tribar lights is there but no lights inside. I got to check if there is power on cable though. Will see if can open up and install some LEDS inside.

Default plasma light bar

The plasma light bars are very easy to install. On 2010 and above on the street glide and road glide they hook into a connector under the left side panel. The plug is a spare and is used for international. The bars have double sided tape on three sides and they stick right on the edge of the filler panel and come with the connector already installed. No problem with them coming off of the filler panels. These are the Custom Dynamics bars. Great people to work with.
