Exclamation Motorcycle jack problems

Am I the only one that has had problems with the hydraulic jack of their lift? The original jack went south long ago and the bogus one I bought to replace it I got tired of bleeding, filling with fluid and then same old crap. Well today I finally resolved the issue. I had a jack laying around from a Toyota truck that has seen its last day and with a bit of modification was able to get it to work great. It not being hydraulic I will be fumbling around a bit with the hook that you use to wind up/down until I think of something a bit easier but perhaps posting this someone will give me an idea. Now the only other thing left to do is have it welded to the jack as it has no bolt holes in the base as did the hydraulic ones.

The local Harley shop has a jack like that. Just turn the screw handle and the bike comes up. Never have to worry about bleed down.

I would make sure your jack mechanisms are in good shape and able to handle the load. Also when you attach it to the jack that it is VERY secure and not able to break loose, as that could cause serious problems. I'd still use the safety levers.

I like the idea.

The top of the jack I used was too big but it had a hole in the middle that I was able to tap out and used a bolt with washers to fit inside the cup of the lift. With the weight of the bike I am quite certain it is not going to go anywhere but until I can get it welded a couple of heavy duty Ty wraps are holding it in place.
