If more people did not care what others think or about reputations, it would be a much better world to live in for everyone.
Don't really care myself, but do get tired of the crap Harley riders have laid on them by non MoCo owners. Just ride from bar to bar. Polish for four hours and ride for 30 minutes. I know you get where I was coming from on this. To me, nothing is quite as stunning, vehicle wise, as a beautifully detailed Harley.
Between yeaterday and today, I installed a set of 10" chubby wild 1 bars and a burly s/s braided install kit. I am trying to sneak a few roses before I put her away so the clutch cable will have to wait (I have to move my headset pipe to access the trans cover)
Overall very happy with the result.
The truly dedicated among us both ride and polish. Dirt causes wear and damage. Cleaning is part of good maintenance. Ask any pilot.
Spent decades off road riding/racing, and cleaning meant 75 cents at a quarter power car washer station. 10-15 pounds of mud left on the ground when through. And yes, I am more compelled to make my Harley shine than the others in the garage. Can't afford a plane, but imagine I would keep it clean if I owned one.

I understand where you are coming from. I once rode and raced sport bikes and have resepect other types of bikes and manufacturers ... I am a Chevy man, but have respect for other GMs, Mopars and Fords ... we attend 15+ motorcycle rallies a year and trailer to keep the wife happy (and me, truth be told-you cannot beat an apartment on wheels), but understand and respect why some religously ride and camp. So if others cannot respect my choices and my opinions by giving me crap, they can go f*u*c*k* themselves and they are nothing to me.
Finished removing the tour pak, added a solo seat, black pearl braided brake lines and clutch cable, new tires and brakes, and had the gauges modified to red.
