Choked on the cost of 5000mi service from HD dealer.
They do provide top notch customer service but yikes it does not come cheap.

Installed my new Long Ride Shield - light tint, 18" (actually 17-1/4", replacing stock 19-3/4"). Big quality-of-ride improvement, not having to sit bolt upright to see over, and the tint is mighty classy-looking.

Got my bike out of winter hibernation from the dealership and then took it for a spin around Portage Lakes State Park - Ice on the lakes and some snow still piled around, but man, did it feel good!

Went through there today in my work truck. Potholes didn't seem too bad for once.

Picked up my latest batch of powder coated parts, bunch of wrinkle black. Put my bike back together to take it in for some primary work and that's where the day went down hill... Pressing in a new inner primary bearing my tech had a little issue, even with lube and the right size driver the inner primary managed to crack They ordered me a new one right away, on their dime of course, but I'm down for at least a week until it comes in. Nobody in the entire Pacific NW had one in stock.

Looks like another week of PMS for this guy...

Default Horn Mod

I had a Mini Beast before, but wanted the chrome steibel horn, as the look of the big cover was getting annoying. Installed it, and didn't really like how it looked. Had my original horn that crapped out long ago, and I got to thinking I could use it at a cover... Got out the angle grinder, and the whire wheel, cane up with this:

Hacked Steibel Horn

Also put the front fork covers back on, did a brake pad inspection [good...] installed the bags & used a 1/4" nut and bolt on the back for "theft", installed the tour pak to check the packing of the new Redverz tent and RotaPax 1.75 Gal fuel and water cans...

I am sick of winter.

Keep on melting...

Default 2015 Passenger floorboard riser.

My wife said the passenger floor boards were lower on this bike than they were on the 08 and it was making her hips burn. She wanted to know if they were adjustable. I said yes, but they only adjust down from where they are now. So I took one off and started designing. I bought some 3/8" X 2" flat bar and cut two pieces 7/8" X 4". Rounded the corners and drilled all the appropriate holes to add one hole up which relocated the boards 13/16" higher. I had to thread the top hole for that 3/8" bolt. The rest of the holes are 3/8" and unthreaded so the bolts just pass through and tighten back into the frame like originally. I had to turn the head down on the upper mounting plate bolt so it would fit in the void of the floorboard mount. Now I still have 2 bolts that hold the mount onto the plate I made, one of which helps hold the plate along with the 2 bolts that mount the plate prior to mounting the floorboard support. That give me 3 bolts holding the plate total and 2, one shared, bolts holding the mount. I just finished painting them so I can reinstall them till tomorrow.
