I had new Michelin Commander II's installed yesterday. I only got 20K out of the 2nd gen Dunlop American Elites. Friends claim 25K from the Michelins - we'll see. New Lyndall-Z's front & rear last week. New Progressive 444's last week

20K sounds pretty good to me. I am at about 11.5K on my 2012 RGU and the rear tire is getting pretty thin on the tread in the center. It is also badly cupped so it make a lot of noise on corners. I will need a new rear for the spring. I have been trying to find some takeoff enforcer wheels with tires. I have seen them in the range of $500-$1,000. Some have been at the $500 with almost no wheels. If I find a set I guess I will be running the OEM Dunlops. If not I will probably go for the Michellins. I don't think they make them for the 19" front yet though.

Didn't do it "today," but did it over the last week. I guess that counts.

I have a Mutazu tour pak. It's fine for the money, but that's a topic for another thread. Regardless, I wasn't happy with the way the backrest fastened to the lid, so I took it off. I'll figure out a way to attach it differently someday. The removal yielded a number of unwanted holes in the lid. There were two small additional holes in the lid near the front that were covered by the backrest. I have no idea what those holes were for. <shrug> In another topic in the forum a member brought up "smoothing out" the tour pack lid after removing the luggage rack. Made me decide to tackle that project myself.

Pulled the lid off and started filling holes with Bondo. Sanded, primed, sanded, primed, and so on. (When you are doing automotive painting, there are 3 things you need to do for a good paint job.)

1. Preparation
2. Preparation
3. Preparation

On with the story. I also filled in the approximately 1" X 11" rectangle indentation where HD puts the logo of the bike. (Near the rear on the top of the lid.) When I was satisfied with the surface I squirted some red paint where I planned on putting some pinstripes to match the paint job I did on the bike. That's a fairly time consuming process to do it right. Unfortunately for me I must have used an old roll of tape cuz overnight about 1/3 of the tape came loose. I'm lazy, so I pulled it all off, sanded away the red, and painted it plain ol' black.

Put it back together yesterday and it looks pretty good.

Just picked up our 2009 ultra a couple weeks ago. Yesterday installed some lowering brackets and new 7 inch windshield. Today we ride......
